Many ideas for the set for Ravenscroft come from the script. The author calls for a main playing space surrounded in some manner by the other characters who will come in and go out of the action, never leaving the stage. A murder mystery set in an English manner, the arches came out of a desire to evoke a Gothic structure which also reflects the Ravencroft family's looming secrets. The furniture was designed to reflect each character and much was built especially for the show, including the desk, hutch and other pieces in the "wings."
